How to Let God Fight Your Battles
In Exodus 14:14, we find the Israelites with the Red Sea before them and an Egyptian army behind them. Trapped on all sides, they were desperate for rescue, to say the least. And at this critical point on their journey, they receive specific instruction on how to respond: Let God fight for them. As we have many battles in this life as followers of Christ, we too are given this same instruction: let God fight for you. So in today's video, I'm sharing with you 3 ways to let God fight your battles. Enjoy!
1. Be Still
Often, we want to make moves that we feel led to victory, but sometimes the greatest move we can make is no move at all. Operating in a faith that stands firm in God’s truth, not pressured to prove ourselves, opens the way for God to move on our behalf. And when God moves, every obstacle you face must get out of the way.
2. Be Obedient
The enemy expects you to fall. Stand firm. The enemy expects you to slip up, mess up, and operate in the flesh. Walk in the Spirit. Your obedience to God is one of your greatest means to spiritual victory. Do exactly what the enemy thinks you won't. Obey God and watch how the power of God overcomes your battle.
3. Be Loved
Believe God’s love for you. It’s not enough to know God is powerful. You need to know that out of His love for you, He will act on that power for your good. This may seem obvious, but we are quick in battles to question if God loves us or if He is for us. He is both and when we know this, we find the courage to stand firm on the truth of His love for us and let Him fight and win every battle we face. Romans 8:31 says:
“What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31 ESV)
Sometimes, we think if we don't fight, we open ourselves up for attack. God is not calling us to stand in the open and take blow after blow. He's calling us to come to Him as our refuge while He fights for us. Psalm 46:1 says:
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” (Psalm 46:1 ESV)
God is not asking us to do nothing. He’s asking us to trust Him. Now I’d love to hear from you. What does allowing God to fight your battles look like for you? Let’s encourage one another in the comments.
